 Hooverphonic Superhuman
Auteur: Nevez
Date:   04-11-2003 14h20

Hi!

Sorry if I write in english...I can speak french a bit, but I can't write it!
You can answer in french, however...

I've found an MP3 on the net, "Hooverphonic - Superhuman". It does not appear on the official hooverphonic site, and it's not part of any album (i have all of them). It lasts 2 min 50 secs, and sounds "truncated" at the end...

Do you have it too? What is it? Is there a longer complete version?

Thanx
Nevez

are you sure it's by hooverphonic? cos i never heard of that track...
maybe the mp3 file was misnamed; this happens very often..
the only "superhuman" i'm thinking right now is by gus gus: maybe you should check if that's the track you downloaded.

Hi TrIcKyKiD,

thanks for welcoming me in here. I'm so happy to have found a site like this...I loved trip-hop and downbeat since I discovered it. I have albums from Hooverphonic (lots of sentimental memories connected to "A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular"...I love that album, even if someone say it is cold or immature), Massive Attack (Mezzanine is fantastic, the second track Rising Son is a masterpiece, with incredible electro sounds), Bjork (Homogenic), Portishead etc etc

I'm even happier now, because by looking at "Classements" section I've discovered groups that I didn't know before, like Archive... Nothing Else is simply amazing! I think I'll buy an album or two in the next days...

I never heard anything of Dj Shadow, and it's not easy to find tracks on the net to taste its sound. How is it? Which group of those mentioned above is more similar/has similar sound?

Thanks
Stephen

PS: I'm from Italy however! I suppose few people in here speak Italian...
Nothing new and amazing from Italy! There are not many electronic music groups in this country. I can name a few if you are interested...

Hi Stephen i think U should try to download,or buy alpha "come from heaven", and Thievery Corporation "the richest man in babylon" is pretty good too, the K & D sessions by Kruder and dorfmeister, and if U want something less downbeat with incredible sounds U have to try DJ shadow "endtroducing" and "the private press", and amon Tobin "permutation" and "supermodified". That's it man, take it easy !

Stephen,
keke is the man !
you have to listen to 'Endtroducing' DJ Shadow a masterpiece of drums and turntables. Enjoy it !!

Try also Supreme Beings of Leisure, Zero 7. I'm sure you 'll recognize a lot of their tracks (often used in advertissement or as soundtracks in TV show, even in Italy I could imagine).

Yes, let me inform of main italian electro bands.

Cheers
hope forward reading from U

PS: sorry but do not blame me 'remember euro 2000 - trézéguet! trézéguet! 2-1

Ciao,

some italian group names (not really trip-hop, but with a few nice electronic tracks):

Subsonica - dance-ish - (try "Disco Labirinto", "Nuvole Rapide", "Tutti i miei sbagli")
Almamegretta (album title: "Imaginaria") and 99 Posse (rap / hip-hop from naples)
Old Delta V (try "Se telefonando", both original and radio edit)

The only real italian group (singer) I like a lot is Elisa. She sings only in english, but a) she's very good at singing (not only in studios) b) has made some nice electronic and unconventional tracks.

Try these (easy to listen to):

from Asile's World:
Gift
Asile's World
Chameleon
Happyness is home

from Then comes the sun
It is what it is
Rainbow
Dancing
Time

PS: Regarding foot... :-) you're lucky that I'm not a football maniac!!! However, we'll see we'll see...:-)

PPS: Can you tell me some nice french bands to listen to? I heard samples from this site of Red Room, and I like it. Anything similar? Or something YOU like a lot?

So, nobody can give me an advice on a good electronic french group? Red Room?

I like the name Elodie. Sounds sweet. (Of course you are at least the kind of girl that wears sadomaso stuff and cuts men in pieces :-).

I have a friend from Corsica with the same name, she comes to Italy for summer holidays...have you ever been in Italy?

Hi...i'm from belgium(and so is my girlfriend;))...

Well what i like and is french is :
- "Emilie Simon" BUT i think u must be a french speaker to really appreciate it...and u cannot really call it electronic frenc music...it's let's say uuuuhh..well listen and see;)

I have seen upper what your musical taste were and i can therefore maybe recommend u a few things:

Groove Armada 'My friend' and 'think twice'

Thievery Corporation 'Le monde'

Mandalay 'Beautiful'

U might also like Craig Armstrong: 'Wake up in New York' and 'Sea Song' which are a bit more sad and calm...but quiet interesting!

Bye

I'll try the groups you said...for now I can tell you that I already listen to some tracks in french: I love Mylene Farmer (only recent works - Les Mots - CD2), I like Roch Voisine - Les Jardin De St-martin, I love paris old music and modern versions of them (ever listened to Amelie's soundtrack?), I like some french rap.

BTW which city of Belgium do you live in?

Simplement fantastique!

If I remember well, someone told me that there's a friterie in Brussels that is famous for being one of the best, that chooses only the best potatoes and even apologizes with clients if they're not top quality...where is it?

Tu es dé la region de Limoges?

I'm from Florence. C'est une belle ville...trop touristique. It's very nice for holidays, but not for living in. Everything is expensive in the city centre, even a glass of water!

A presto
Stephen

PS: I read that you're interested in grooveboxes. You may be interested also in their software version: there is a program called "Reason" that makes the same sounds (probably more). Try to find a cop*cough cough* buy it somewhere. It allows to create new sounds as well as composing. The site is: "www.propellerheads.se", if you want to test a demo version.

You can't imagine how difficult it is to write those few words...I'm lucky to have Google helping me! ;-)

Believe me, living in Florence is not that nice...it's impossible to use the car (you can't enter the city centre, even by night, there are no free parking...), it's traffic jammed outside the centre, it's darn hot in the summer (the hottest city of Italy) and darn cold in winter. But you're right, it's beautiful. You have to see it one time. There's a place called "Piazzale Michelangelo" where you can see the entire centre historique avec le Duomo, the river Arno, le Ponte Vecchio, all illuminated by night. I still enjoy that view, it's so calm and romantic...quand il n'y a pas de japonais qui te demande de prendre une photo!!! :-)

So, you are a 15-years old trying to "drague" me? :-)
Joking. How old are you?

Sorry Stephen this expression "cartonnent" (du verbe "cartonner") means "it's great" or more precisely "it rocks", that's it ! I remember last summer when i went to Firenze it was nearly 40°C, so it was quite unbreathable because of the pollution, but believe me, it's 10 times worse in London when it's only nearly 30°C ! Ciao gli raggazzi !
